Scaling Without Limits: Preparing Your Critical Compute for Tomorrow’s Demands

Cyber threats are persistent, widespread, and increasingly sophisticated, according to the 2025-2026 National Cyber Threat Assessment report by the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security (the Cyber Centre). [i]

“In the last two years, we have witnessed a sharp increase in both the number and severity of cyber incidents, many of which target our essential services,” says Bill Blair, Minister of National Defense, in a forward to the report.

In the US, the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) warns that “Any cyberattack, no matter how small, is a threat to our national security and must be identified, managed, and shut down.” [ii]

There’s no doubt that cyber security is a rising concern, and the impact of cybercrime is escalating as organizations adopt cloud computing to provide the performance, scalability, and flexibility they need to serve a global, digital-first landscape.

So how do you grow your business in the cloud with confidence while controlling the constant threat of cybercrime? Rajiv Gupta, Head of the Cyber Centre, recommends that organizations “…get [themselves] into a state of readiness” for the growing threat. [iii]

Resiliency, performance, scalability, and security: All heroes and no big bad wolf

To keep the wolf from the door and create a dynamic, thriving environment where growth and innovation thrive, we first have to look at the components of strong infrastructure. Cybercrime is inevitable; disaster doesn’t have to be.

CISA recommends a “secure by design” approach to cybersecurity, in which cloud providers build cybersecurity into the design and manufacture of technology products. “Americans need a new model to address the gaps in cybersecurity—a model where consumers can trust the safety and integrity of the technology that they use every day.” [iv] A build-by-design model for cyber security embraces the four pillars of cloud computing: resiliency, performance, scalability, and security.

Resiliency: Even if the wolf gets his foot in the door, you can prevent him from holding your business hostage. By protecting your data, you can maintain your essential uptime and reliability of operations, even during scaling or consolidation. And since some wolves come in sheep’s clothing—in the form of human error or outages—expecting the unexpected from all sources is critical to your business. High availability and fault-tolerant systems ensure business continuity and protect you from outages, including scheduled downtime and critical disasters, even if some components fail. That’s security that feels just right and lets you sleep at night.

Performance: Superman travels faster that the speed of light, but information in the digital world is even faster. Your customers expect you to be a superhero when it comes to executing their requests, and they aren’t happy when low latency makes them wait. Speeding up operations for internal and external users by providing better storage performance and faster response times accelerates your business. For that, you need reliable compute power with high IOPS to ensure smooth, bottleneck-free operations for critical workloads.

Scalability: Remember the Cabbage Patch Kids craze? The Beanie Baby phenomenon? Demand can be unpredictable, and when it shifts, your business needs to pivot on a dime to ensure fast delivery. You need a cloud solution that delivers flexibility so you can scale up when business blooms and scale back when the sudden shift subsides or a seasonal advantage wanes.

Security: Data protection is the lifeblood of your business. Customers who give you their sensitive information trust you to secure it, and innovation that gives you a competitive advantage is critical to success. Without data security, your organization is risks loss of business, compliance issues and fines, and PR nightmares that can devastate your business. Securing data is a mission-critical function that requires the best technology and constant oversight.

ThinkOn’s flexible infrastructure: The Goldilocks approach to cloud computing

At ThinkOn, we see the digital world as a holistic and powerful place where all things are possible and data thrives. Diversity is the secret sauce that makes your business unique, and a one-size-fits-all solution just doesn’t cut it.

Tailored solutions support diverse workloads and customize operations, so your ThinkOn solution is the one that best fits your needs and supports your growth. Our Bare Metal, Private Cloud, and Multi-Tenant Cloud services protect your data, streamline operations, and provide the resilience, performance, scalability, and security that’s just right for you.

Bare Metal: Support critical legacy systems and high-performance workloads with robust, reliable infrastructure that meets performance and compliance needs—optimizing organizational efficiency and reliability.

Private Cloud: Effortlessly balance scalability and control, knowing that your infrastructure is both flexible and secure—and your sensitive data is protected by advanced security measures tailored to regulatory requirements.

Multi-Tenant Cloud: Streamline application deployment with a dynamic, scalable environment that adapts to changing needs without sacrificing performance—all with cost-effective, reliable performance, and strong security measures.

Where you store your data matters, and when the big bad wolf comes calling, you’d better have your valuables protected. Adaptable deployment options give you flexible ways to secure your data. You can choose on-premises, third-party colocation, or ThinkOn’s global data centers. Think 3-2-1: three copies of your data, in two locations, with one immutable for super sensitive data.

That way, the wolf may get in the door, but won’t get his paws on your business.

Pay-as-you-grow means cost overruns are just a fairy tale

Tailoring cloud services to your business means that cost efficiencies are part of the package. You deserve transparent pricing with no hidden fees and a contract that doesn’t lock you into services you don’t need.

Ingress and egress charges can destroy your budget and take the benefit out of your cloud advantage. At ThinkOn, we support predictable budgeting, so you can grow your business with comfort and confidence, knowing that what you expected is what you got, and your cloud bill won’t break the bank.

Your growth is our growth, so we support your decisions to scale up and scale down as business needs change—without restrictive contracts. It’s all about giving you that competitive advantage, a way to balance cost and operational agility for tailored, cost-effective solutions that you’ll grow with for years.
