ThinkOn’s commitment to a healthy, sustainable future

At ThinkOn, we are dedicated to doing our part to create a sustainable future for generations to come. In alignment with Canada’s Net-Zero Challenge, we are committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. This commitment is an integral part of our mission to drive positive environmental change and foster a resilient, low-carbon economy.

In today’s digital age, data has become the new currency, driving innovation and powering businesses across the globe. Data centres are at the heart of this digital economy and require significant energy to operate. Here at ThinkOn, we are aware of the environmental impact this entails and are committed to reducing our carbon footprint through sustainable practices, innovative solutions and carbon offset programs.

Our Path to Net Zero

1. Sustainable Practices: We are integrating sustainability into every aspect of our operations, from energy use and resource management to waste reduction and product design.

2. Carbon Footprint Reduction: We are developing strategies to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions to achieve carbon neutrality including investing in carbon offset programs and supporting reforestation initiatives.

3. Waste Management: We are developing a recycling program to properly dispose of and recycle old hardware.

4. Innovation and Technology: We are conducting research with a goal of investing in innovative technologies and practices that reduce our carbon footprint and enhance energy efficiency across all our facilities.

5. Energy Efficiency: We are committed to implementing energy-efficient technologies and practices wherever possible within our data centres and facilities.

6. Collaboration and Partnerships: We will collaborate with industry partners, government agencies, and the community to develop and implement effective strategies for reducing emissions.

7. Employee Engagement: We will empower our employees to take an active role in our sustainability initiatives, fostering a culture of environmental stewardship.

8. Transparent Reporting: We will continue to report our progress towards net zero, holding ourselves accountable in partnership with the Net-Zero Challenge.

Our Sustainability Goals

Our ambitious goals aim to reduce our operational carbon footprint significantly. As a managed infrastructure service provider that operates data centres, ThinkOn has identified a number of direct and indirect sources of emissions that we plan to focus on to achieve the following aggregated reduction targets:

  • 40% reduction by 2035
  • 66% reduction by 2040
  • 100% reduction by 2050

We recognize that achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 is a significant challenge, but it is one we are fully committed to meeting. By taking action today, we can ensure a healthier, more sustainable future for all.
